Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is Wearever underwear? How are they different than adult disposables?

Wearever underwear is real underwear with an absorbent Unique-dri pad that is sewn in to trap liquid and odours. It uses Hydrex™ (patented) 3 layer system for total protection by containing urine and preventing it from penetrating through the garment. Unlike disposables, Wearever is reusable and better for the environment. Disposables can take 500 years to break down in landfills. Wearever is also a lot more cost-effective than disposables and can save you $700 per year. Our men’s line even has a fully functional fly.

  • What type of incontinence is Wearever suitable for?

Wearever underwear is suitable for those with mild to moderate stress or urge urinary incontinence, overactive bladder (OAB), or those with light bladder leakage(LBL). They are not appropriate for those with fecal incontinence. It is not designed for those with severe urinary incontinence where there is a complete loss of bladder control all at once.

  • How much do they absorb?

Wearever underwear has the most absorbency available in a reusable incontinence underwear because of the Unique – Dri™ pads that are sewn in. A full bladder during the day normally holds 300-400mL.

    • Light absorbency: up to 90mL (3 oz). This is equivalent to over 18 teaspoons!
    • Regular absorbency: up to 150mL (5 oz)
    • Moderate absorbency: up to 300mL (10 oz)
    • Maximum absorbency: up to 590mL (20 oz). This is more than a large coffee at Tim Hortons.
  • How do you clean Wearever underwear?

It’s important that you wash before wearing the first time as this activates the absorbency.

Wearever underwear is easy to take care of and are machine washable on warm in a regular washing machine! They can be dried in a dryer on medium.

Do not use bleach or fabric softeners as they can affect the absorbency.

If odours and stains occur, soak in cold water overnight.

High heat and agitation of industrial washers are not recommended as bunching may occur. You can try washing with a tennis ball to help prevent this.

  • How long do they last?

Wearever underwear can be washed up to 200 – 250 washes and still maintain their absorbency. Wearever underwear has been tested through UL.com.

  • What about odours?

Wearever is made with Agionanti-microbial fibres that reduce odour-causing bacteria. If there are ever any odours you can soak in cold water overnight prior to washing.

  • How do I know which one will fit?

A good fit is very important to prevent leaks. Ladies’ measurements are based on hip measurements (the widest part), and men’s measurements are based on waist measurements. Size varies between different styles and may be different than your current underwear. Please use our product selection tool to help you find the right pair for your size and needs.

  • Are they ODSP approved?
Many people with MSN forms for incontinence products have been able to get approval for Wearever underwear.
  • Can I use Wearever at night?

While we do have many customers that use our products at night, the success will depend on your level of incontinence and the position that you sleep in. None of our underwear is padded all the way up the back to the waistband, so if you sleep on your back there is a chance the liquid will flow towards the back and past the padding. If you sleep on your side there is a possibility you could experience a leak over the edges of the pad. None of our products are intended for very heavy streams or full voids so if you deal with either of those at nighttime, they will likely leak. Our products were not specifically designed for night-time wear, therefore we can’t guarantee their success if you purchase for that purpose. For added protection, we offer Wearever® Pads to keep all your furnishings dry.
